Re: This is Your Brain on Religion
No. I phrased my question poorly. I just needed to wrap it up in prettier language, which I did.

Re: This is Your Brain on Religion
"My smile does not signify any superiority or inferiority. My smile signifies the bare fact that western religious thinking is indeed different fron Hindu thought. Westerners believe that religion is about belief. Hindu thought claims that religion is about experience. These two positions are not compatible. So I smiled because it seemed to me that we are talking past each other and not to each other although we are using the same language and same words."
G'gal, at the risk of boring many of the folks here - I'm also going to disagree with youabout the above. I'm Jewish. We aren't nearly so into 'belief' as Christians are....though maybe what I mean by 'bleief' isn't teh same as what you meant.
As I read the article, I kept seeing the 'two views of Deity' as resonating with the ...classic Jewish concept ...Good and Evil Inclinations, and with the other Jewish 'duality' of 'Mercy/Justice'. And as in either of those we are compelled to seek a balance - I suppose in my religious view I'm tryingto maintain a balance between what some have also called 'the Left Hand' and 'Right Hand' ?
Of course, you all knew I was going to yelp about getting lumped in with 'those Christians', right? OK, whine over....

And BTW - I thought we'd agreed that since Celsus was here now, we'd give him the honor of being the first to be 'censored'????
Or was there another vote after I wandered off to go pet the Blooooort-kitty?

You know. When this thread pulls to the top on the front page, it reads, "this is your bra."
Yes, I am turning into a 13 year old boy.

Most likely, yes.
Re: This is Your Brain on Religion
classic Dr Who porn-that would actually be interesting-unless they did it camp with a P.E.N.I.S. instead of a T.A.R.D.I.S. etc...
