Married longest?

I thought I would get this conversation started by seeing who has been married the longest. And the shortest. And the most times consecutively. Come on folks! I'm a bit bored tonight! Is anyone out there?

Married to my beautiful and tolerant wife for almost thirteen years, with three beautiful daughters to show for it.

It will be seven years in September.

Twenty six years this October.

I was married 22 years. Divorced now.

Oh that sucks, Gilly,,,,,that's a lonnnnnnnnng time to put into a relationship. I'm sorry it didn't work out.

LOL well, in this case you can do that but it's kind of sad too. He had some sort of mental breakdown and he's never been the same. He is too crazy for my children to want any contact with him although one is thinking of attempting it again this summer. We keep hoping that it will change.

That is very sad. I hope that he gets better. It would be nice if he could be at the wedding, but that may be too much to hope for.

I was married for 18 years, and have been divorced now for 4 years.

I have two beautiful children as the result of that marriage. And this is probably strange to those of you who are divorced.. but I'm attending my ex-wife's wedding this year... and have become good friends with the guy she is marrying.

wow, did they never figure out what it was? Sounds like it could be something like schizophrenia or bi-polar or something,,,,,,,if they could figure it out, they could treat it,,,,,that IS incredibly sad,,,,

It is but don't worry, the girls have had lots of therapy to help them deal with it and are doing well. It is one of those extreme and rare, not to mention bizarre, cases where truth is stranger than fiction, but then mental problems do run in one side of his family.

Rob, I think it is wonderful that you have kept close ties with your ex-wife. When you are married that long there has to be a deep friendship even if other things pull a relationship apart.

9 years now. Engaged for 4 years before that.

I heard somewhere that the greatest gift a man could give his children is to love his children's mother,,,,,

I'm not suggesting that people stay married "for the sake of the children",,,,,the opposite in fact,,,,,one of the best ways we can "love" someone, sometimes, is to let them go, show respect, and care about their happiness,,,,,,,

It's an incredible gift to your children that you can "love" (read: respect, value, befriend, show decency, forgive, etc) your ex-wife,,,,,,,
