Quick update: Back... United Airways lost her and sent her on the wrong plane to Chicago. She had to spend 6 hours trapped at O'Hare (they paid for her hotel room since they screwed up) and she flew in in the morning. So it took us an extra day.

Oh you poor man. It would be wrong, if I laughed right?

I have heard of this happening to luggage, never people.

So what did that do to you, or shouldn't I ask?
Are you alright? Hug

I backpedaled and went to my house (which is halfway between Asheville and Charlotte) and spent the night. It's about 70 miles to both cities from there. Then got up this morning and left out to meet the incoming flight. It was certainly a trip. My guides/gods gave me composure and clarity I didn't think I'd have.

I hope you had a blanket to keep you warm in the house. But it is a good idea, saved you some time I hope. Very Happy

Oh, no -- no, they once lost one of my footplates (manual chair), and I had to go around for a *week* with my left foot dragging everywhere! (Heh, at least it wasn't the whole chair!)

Oh WMDKitty, that is horrible. You really can't trust them can you. Losing a bag for a few days is one thing but medical equipment and people or animals is quite another! That is outrageous.

I know there is no way around it sometimes, but this is why I never step on a plane unless there is no other choice.

Okay so I have a rant.

When people DON'T know you and come in off the street at your place of work and THINK THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO TELL YOU HOW TO LIVE YOUR LIFE!

I guess it's par for "customer service" but I really can't fathom how people think it's their right to tell you what to do and where to get off.

I've had customers (mind you, people I don't now) probably over 30 times in the last few years ask me where I went to college, and when I explained I didn't, they'd start sticking their nose in as to why not and what for and what I should have done differently.

I've had women get downright nasty about my "beautiful hair" and tell me I have no right to have such pretty hair and need to donate it to charity. (I've had one man get nasty with that too but it's usually the women).

In the grocery last week I had a new age yuppie wanna-be woman tell me I couldn't suffer from depression. Thanks, that's good to know. Granted, she asked what I was shopping for and I brought up the depression and anxiety and the meds I was looking at, but it was nice to get a confirmation from Dr. Smalltalk TeaAisle that I was depression-free and instead suffered from repressed anger.

And on and on in goes...from lovelife to sexuality to politics to pets, I constantly have people who think they need to tell me who/what I should do or be. Do other people get this or do I have a big "tell me what to do" sign on my back?

>.<

It's not *you* -- it's *them*, and busybodies are *everywhere*.

I'll admit, if a friend says they haven't eaten in two days, I will *force* them to sit the fuck down and EAT.

But to tell someone, "Oh, you're not *really* depressed" just crosses the line.

I'm with kitty, it's not just you. Look at all the Christians who want everyone to worship the same god - because they think they know what is best for everyone else. The members of a lot of religions feel that way. They thing is you come across as a friendly guy so people feel free to share their opinions with you about what you need to do with your life or their opinions about medical things.

Part of it too is backhanded compliments. They can't just say, hon, your hair is pretty, you sure are lucky. They've got to resent your blessing (it's wasted on a man) or make that hair useful (you need to donate it!).

In customer service you really learn about all the warts on the human race.

Self validation!!! Or busy bodies! TED dont worry about it. People look to fix others bc it keeps them from worrying about what they need to fix about themselves. Or they worry about fixing the world bc it is the old if I fix this one I can fix my self. They are simply telling a story of what they believe to validate their way of thinking. I live the bible belt too remember.. The Multifaith pulpit - Page 3 208353
