Advice Empty Advice

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I'm going to be getting some money soon (my grandmother died recently, leaving us with an inheritance) and I want to set up an altar. All that I know I want on it is a picture of her and my grandfather, some candles, and a seax. What I'm looking for is 1) a good place to get a seax and 2) advice on how best to decorate the altar.

Hey man, long time no see. How ya doing?

I don't have, and haven't really looked for a seax. Google shopping had a few results, but I can't really endorse any of them, they are just there.

I honestly don't have an altar. I tend to go outdoors for such activities, and since I don't own the land, I don't wish to alter the landscape.

It's pretty much personal preference though.

I'm doing good. I'm trying to just figure out a decent way to worship when I move into an apartment.

Depends, how close is the apartment to more natural areas?

not very. Though I probably could make it out to a more natural area for the important holidays.

I had mine in a window when I lived in an apartment. I hung a couple of crystals and put a few interesting rocks, candles a dish with a flower or whatever I found on walks. The best part I think was it didn't scream religious weirdo to people who dropped by and I loved looking out at the bushes and sky.

I'm not sure of the strictures of Asatru(?) when it comes to altar building, nor where to purchase a seax. I could suggest, if you have an FB account, looking at the Polytheism page, as many have posted images of their various altars, and there were quite a few Asatruars shown.

My alter when I lived in an appartment was just my dresser top. On it were pictures of my ancestors recently passed and important to me, an old battered hammer, and the knife that I swore my oaths upon (as well as used for everything from brush clearing, rope cutting, butchering, hammering tent pegs and a couple of times as a splint).

Now mine is over the fireplace, with a pet in an urn, my drinking horn, seax and pictures of my children as well as a lovely Odin icon. My seax was purchased at a RenFaire, although if you want to go on line, look at

Thanks for the advice everyone. Gorm, I checked out that facebook page, they had some really interesting pictures of God/esses and altars and all that.
