Well.. it's only fair... and it does help get the point across. If somebody wants to impose their god(s) on me.. then I'll impose my ... hmm... lack of god(s) on them. Everybody is happy that way.

I'm in line with John on this one. It isn't why that matters. It's what we do with what we have. I figured out that a lot of the time there is no way to know 'why'. We are confronted with a reality and we deal with it. The meaning we imbue is, for me, the most important thing.

SG has the right of it for me. UPG. We each have one. We know what we know and we think what we think. We create meaning and dignity for ourselves is what I think. Unfortunately some folks think they ought to be the ones calling the shots with respect to what is important and what is truth. That irks me. I don't care what religion you do or don't espouse. What I care about is what each person I meet does with their life. Life has a purpose in one way. The purpose is to live. The bonus is when we live well.

Well, there's this territory...and then there are all the little maps we make of it. Sadly, we can only ever move about based on our maps.

As far as the question "Why are we here?" goes, well, we're here because the Cosmos expressed us, as with everything else.

"What is our purpose?" Seems simple to me--we're humans, therefore we're supposed to live and grow as humans.

And eat cheesecake.

And Nutella on crepes.

What IS Nutella? I have never been able to figure that out!

It is awesome stuff! We had a crepe spread with Nutella here in a French bistro and it was beyond delicious. I liked to spread it on shortbread cookies. MMMMMM...

Yeah, I've yet to meet a nut butter I didn't like, and then to add chocolate to it? Almost like cheesecake.

Had cheesecake last night. Two kinds. A chocolate & peanut butter cheesecake and tiramisu cheesecake. Life is good.

Ah, Nutella. Used to get it in Germany. I don't find it here very often. I just plain love hazelnuts though. I can't find them very frequently either.

Crow I will give you all of my cheesecake. I may be the oddest woman in the world but I really don't like cheesecake.

IHOP has Nutella Crepes. Never knew what they were before.

kinda its important to our Mythos in the Campbellian sense. If we know where we came from; it kind of tells us where we are going. The Christian Millennial Kingdom/ Heaven is suspiciously like Eden.

Or to put it another way. Does our life have purpose and meaning or does it just happened? Paraphrased from what have been a really good movie if Nick Cage hadn't starred in it.

You can buy Nutella at health food stores generally. Some of the supermarkets here carry it as well.

No.

Giving one's life a meaning can help in extreme situations though. Doesn't matter what it is though, as long as the person likes the idea and believes in it.

Well, it's -- holy shit, it's 5:35 AM! -- I've been up for a while. And I tend to think about weird things at late hours.

At health food stores??? lol, I like Nutella but it's everything but healthy

Dude, hazelnuts are a source of good fats. Not so much with the chocolate, though there are health benefits to eating that, too. (Still can't have it, damn migraines!)
