Another refugee from Bnet arriving
Hi everyone. My name is Mary and the 75 refers to the year I graduated from college...so I've been on the planet for awhile. I find myself growing happier as I get older, contrary to what they told me when I was a kid. Pretty cool that it turned out that way!
I am a recent convert to Judaism and my family is still scratching their heads about it. I'm a second-career language teacher about to start my 2nd year of employment, and I am enjoying my first summer without having to hunt for a job. That's 8.5 weeks of freedom!
I heard about this website from MaineCaptain, one of my old Bnet friends. I see some of my other friends and acquaintances from there so this will be fun!
Happy summer!

Hi Mary! (Shalom!) I'm Joseph/TED. Nice to meet you! Don't let my seeming niceties fool you, I'm the resident smartass.
You can frequently find me hiding from MaineCaptain, who spends much of her day chasing me with a broom.

Hi, Mary! I'm Tina. Not really a refugee from bnet, yet. I have too much fun pushing buttons on some people over there.
I'm in and out. Pay no mind to TED. Get a broom and he'll be quiet.
He thinks he's a tough one... but he's really just a big ol' pussycat.

Another escapee! Excellent. Always nice to see the Magen David hanging next to Mjolnir, it brightens up the place otherwise overwhelmed with pentacles and crosses.

Welcome Mary. Pay no mind to TED. He's a far cry form the resident smart ass. I was a senior member of the Jerk Club, and a confirmed Marxist, (Harpo I think or maybe Chico, I'm not really sure ) on the old site. TED is simply trying to emulate me.
You'll find these new digs a little different than what you grew accustomed to on B'Net. We try to be provocative without being provoking. Cruise about and find yourself a niche.
Oh, and Fang, aka Willowcreek70633, aka Dee sez welcome too.

TED, she isn't chasing you with that broom. She only has a learner's permit for that thing, and hasn't quite learned to do take offs and landings on it yet.
I'll send Dee aorund to give a few instructions and you should be OK from there.

I'm talking to Mary here! Mary? Shalom, I hope you enjoy yourself here at YOUR spirituality! I found it to be a really great place to interact openly! The good intentions are heartfelt & true. The throwed off intentions (the rowdy bunch, has that area all sewed up). We can be a strange bunch, but we are not a hurtful, riot waiting to happen. Hope to be friends soon!
To the above poster, (forgot his name)....here's your sign!

Well yes, & no I said ....here's YOUR sign...."I'm with Stupid!" After almost 30yrs there are some things wives leave unsaid! After all SG over a lifetime of marriage, with whats his name, he had LOTS to do with honing my great skills of taking off & landing! I have been the Witch of the house, long before witches were looked upon as New Age cool!

Welcome Mary from another b-netter. T.E.D. is just a overgrown pussycat. John's just a old grumpy Cajun. You'll find this to be a more civil & respectful place.

Re: Another refugee from Bnet arriving
Hello to all! I have been traveling and just got some time to check in. Glad to see some (alleged) expertise in brooms! I, on the other hand, am much better at snaping - no, I mean sniping - from the stands.
I am not sure what spirituality IS per se. Religion without church? Individual religious practice not necessarily sanctioned by religious authorities? Never could figure it out, but I've always been interested. I like religion fine as long as it doesn't bash people over the head and provides a choir for me to sing in.

Re: Another refugee from Bnet arriving
Hm...OK, this implies that people who have been burned by religion are "spiritual-not-religious." Is it always one or the other? Can't you be both? Do you have to hate organized religion to be spiritual? I was brought up liberal Christian and we didn't believe in hell. Jews don't either, for that matter.
I liked my old church, but I couldn't swallow all that stuff about Jesus and finally converted. I knew I was in the right place when I found the Jewish potlucks were better than the Episcopalian ones!

Re: Another refugee from Bnet arriving
Depends on what you mean when you say "organized religion." To monotheists, it seems to mean one thing, to us polytheists, something completely different.
