Dark Sleeper

Sleeping in the dark
Her hungry arms of white
Eyes as black as night
Ran awaits her lovers touch

Mistress of the deep
Her passion is the storm
Blood is her offering
She dwells in darkness all alone

Ships with dragon prows
And captains of renown
Dared her waves
To claim new lands

She spread her trembling hands
And pulled the Northmen down
She kissed them as they fell
No one wants to be alone

The battled for a crown
With ships a hundred strong
They praised the raven lord
But gave their fallen to her breast

Cannons girt their wooden loins
Pennons dance upon the mast
An empire to carve
Across her darkened realm

Trafalgar did she see her love
Proud Nelson fell in glory
His blood alone touched the wave
Her empty arms still yearning

Ships of iron, men of steel
At Jutland to contend
She screams her joy to the darkened wave
And pulls her lovers home

Coventry aflame!
All Falklands hears their screams
Her loving arms await below
They will never be alone

Black Ran holds the deeps
Down deep below the light
We who dare the waves
Well know her hungry arms
