Hammer or Cross
When but a child they came to me
Desert god and hanging corpse
Peace and love for all who kneel
Scream and burn who dare to stand
Father son and holy ghost
No goddess, mercy, love or joy
Genocide on angels wings
Singing songs to hide the screams
They preach of peace while starting wars
Spitting on the soldiers corpse
No room for living fighting men
No room for pride or cold remorse
Give me love or burn in hell
Kill anyone I ask as well
They call it love, I call it hate
Thank gods they saved me from this fate
I met another hanging god
Upon a tree and not a cross
He hung for knowledge and for hope
For what he needs he paid the cost
Golden goddess burning bright
Full of passion lust and life
Shining mother at the loom
Weaving lines from birth to doom
Red beard rides upon the storm
Joy of battle his reward
He taught us all to laugh at pain
Showed us how to stand again
Men and women standing proud
Dare to live and seek renown
Fight to make a better land
Laugh and love full as you can
Hel is real, she waits for you
The promise kept when life is through
She is the rest at journey’s end
Silent keeper of the mound
Desert god and zombie son
No honest love or passion bright
Hate what you can never hold
Fearing women that you shun
Not ever walking battle plain
Not ever facing enemies
Sending others off to die
Singing songs of pious lies
Murder millions in your name
Who never dared the battle flame
Coward god of Abraham
Who made a father child’s bane
My gods are not so civilized
They never sought to break my pride
My gods know love as they know rage
They are no stranger to battles flame
The Battle Glad was with me then
When I walked the battle plain
I do not slaughter in their name
I defend my country and my kin
Raise my horn I raise my eyes
I raise my voice; hear me cry
Hail mighty gods who guard us still
Hail shining goddess who guide us yet
Keep your fear and keep your book
We have our own gods for to look
We have no need to be saved
You spoke your peace, now on your way.
John T Mainer
Proselytizing; if there was a more persistent way to tick off every other faith group on the planet than this one, nobody has found it yet. Given that it runs the spectrum from gentle seduction, through bribery, bait and switch, and all the way up to rape level coercion whenever church manages to get its hands on secular power, it is the ugly beginning to an even uglier slope.

Permission to repost and print as you like. I don't think I'm the only one who has ever been pressured to believe as I was commanded, not as I felt. Anyone who has ever felt the same may be free to borrow my words.
