Hindu theme in Sci Fi book

I just read The Host, by Stephanie Meyer.
Very impressive. What is interesting is that Stephanie is a Mormon, but to me the book had a deeply spiritual Hindu theme.

It's about an Alien life form who have taken over earth, they are peaceful, very likable, have cures for all diseases.
They are tiny worm like creatures called souls that gets attached to humans, their hosts.
What makes it compatible with the dharma is that these souls can liver forever as long as they have healthy hosts, when the body gets old or defected they just move on to another body, or another species on another planet. They can be seagrass, spiders, bears anything. It is an amazing book.

It's truly about the identification of your true Self instead of the body, like an enlightened person.

I was under the impression it was the same series. Doesn't mean I was right about that, though.

No it's by the same author but it's not part of the series. This book is her first book for adults.

Did you read the Twilight series? I see a lot of adults reading them.
